The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reiterated its determination to strengthen collaboration with key government institutions in order to accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation.
This position was restated at a strategic engagement between NITDA and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), where the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, was represented by the Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy, Dr. Dimie Shively Warowie, PhD. The meeting focused on exploring practical areas of cooperation with the NCC’s Telecommunication Development Bureau.
Discussions at the meeting centred on a shared goal of achieving universal, affordable and meaningful digital connectivity for Nigerians, while also ensuring a safe and secure digital environment. The NCC representative highlighted Nigeria’s growing regulatory maturity, noting the Commission’s attainment of G5-level collaborative regulation and commending the leadership of the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijjani.
The NCC further expressed readiness to support NITDA through technical assistance, cybersecurity tools and initiatives aimed at expanding inclusive connectivity and strengthening digital transformation centres nationwide.
Speaking on behalf of the NITDA Director-General, Dr. Warowie outlined the agency’s priority areas, including digital skills development, cybersecurity resilience, innovation and digital entrepreneurship, as well as the harmonisation of regulatory frameworks and technical standards.
Both agencies agreed to sustain the partnership, identifying digital literacy, cybersecurity capacity building, innovation support, school connectivity and regulatory alignment as immediate areas of focus.
