Sallah Homage: Gov Aliyu, Sultan Call for Unity, Justice, Sustained Prayers

Sokoto State Governor, Dr Ahmad Aliyu, has commended Islamic scholars for their dedication to Tafsir, Taraweeh, and Tahajjud prayers throughout the Ramadan period, saying their efforts greatly enriched the spiritual lives of the people.

The governor gave the commendation during a traditional Sallah homage to the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, at his palace.

Governor Aliyu urged the scholars to sustain their preaching to further enlighten the public on their religious obligations. He described this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration as remarkable, attributing it to the exemplary leadership of traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the state.

He also appreciated the people of Sokoto State for their continued support and prayers for his administration, assuring them of more dividends of democracy. The governor further called for sustained prayers towards ending banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

In his remarks, the Sultan appreciated the governor for the visit and congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. He reaffirmed the support of the Sultanate Council and urged the people to continue supporting the administration for sustained development.

The Sultan emphasised the need for unity, peaceful coexistence, and adherence to Islamic teachings beyond the Ramadan period. He urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of patience, discipline, and charity cultivated during the holy month, noting that these values are essential for building a peaceful and prosperous society.

He also called on leaders at all levels to prioritise justice and fairness in governance, stressing that lasting peace and development can only be achieved through collective responsibility and sincere leadership.

The event was attended by prominent personalities, including former Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko; Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala Bodinga; as well as traditional rulers and politicians.
