APC Wins Ungogo, Kano Municipal By-Elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the by-elections held on Saturday to fill vacant seats in Ungogo and Kano Municipal constituencies of the Kano State House of Assembly.
Daily Star Nigeria gathered that APC candidate Aliyu Nabil Daneji secured 7,484 votes to emerge winner in Kano Municipal, while Aminu Sa’ad Sa’ad won the Ungogo seat with 8,975 votes.
Electoral officials declared both candidates winners and presented them with certificates of return, confirming their election into the state legislature.
An earlier report by Daily Nigerian noted that major opposition parties, including NNPP, PDP and ADC, did not participate in the by-elections.
Although the polls were conducted peacefully, voter turnout was generally low across the affected constituencies, with only a small number of residents coming out to vote.
The outcome strengthens APC’s position in the Kano State House of Assembly as the new lawmakers prepare to assume office.
