Daily Star Nigeria reports that the convictions were secured by the Sokoto Zonal Directorate of the EFCC on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after the anti-graft agency concluded investigations and arraigned the suspects before the Sokoto State High Court.
Those convicted are Abdulrahman Abdullahi, popularly known as A.A. Sabo, and Bashir Muhammad. The duo were charged separately on one count each, bothering on obtaining by false pretence, impersonation and cheating.
Abdullahi was prosecuted before Justice Abubakar Adamu, while Bashir Muhammad appeared before Justice Muhammad Bargaja. Both defendants pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them by the EFCC.
According to details shared on the EFCC’s official Facebook page, the court found the evidence presented by the prosecution sufficient to establish the offences, leading to their conviction.
The EFCC said the judgment reaffirmed its commitment to stamping out internet fraud and related crimes in Sokoto State and across the country, warning residents to remain vigilant against impostors and online scammers.
