The Sokoto State Government has received the report of a judicial panel set up to review the activities of the previous administration led by former governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, with the state reaffirming its resolve to uphold accountability and the rule of law.
Daily Star Nigeria gathered that the report was formally presented in Sokoto by the chairman of the committee, Justice Mu’azu Pindiga, during a brief but significant ceremony.
Presenting the findings, Justice Pindiga disclosed that the panel uncovered alleged financial irregularities totaling over ₦117 billion, linked to breaches of government procurement procedures, weak financial oversight, and abuse of executive authority during the period under review.
He stressed that the panel was not established to witch-hunt any individual or settle political scores, but to carry out a constitutional responsibility aimed at protecting public funds and promoting good governance.
Receiving the report, Governor Ahmed Aliyu praised the committee for what he described as a thorough and impartial exercise, noting that the findings were backed by credible documentation and evidence.
The governor assured that his administration would carefully study the report and take necessary actions in line with the law, adding that transparency and accountability remain central to his government’s agenda.
